It looks like a 4 door Vette if you ask me. Especially the front fender scoops/flares

that would be hot if not for 4 doors. if they gotta go retro then why would they do the kind of a big deal thing of changing the number of doors on it. something called CHARGER isnt meant to be practical. the one out their right now is fugly compared to the mustang too. too fat looking

that concept you put up is an old one. It's been around for at least 5 years, and it was in a videogame in 2005. I really doubt that it'll get made after all these years.

That pic likes like a viper, charger and Acura NSX all thrown in one. Pretty f*cked up...

The original looked a giant freakin' BOAT, especially compared to the Mustang...Watch Bullitt and you'll see what I mean.

+1 That prototype is pretty old, that's why all the Dodge aficionados had a blip in their pace-makers when the actual Charger came out([:'(]). Besides, when it came to the pony car battle, Ford has always had a reputation to uphold. As dumb as it may sound now, the Mustang II saved it's butt from extinction during the oil embargo of the mid 70's(Iacocca really did have some foresight as the Mustang II prototypes were being evaluated around 1970/71, before the Arab nations reminded of our dependence on what they produce).
Anyone remember when Ford nearly replaced the Mustang with the(eventual) Mazda produced Probe? Luckily Mustang lovers showed Ford what they thought and the SN95 came to fruition in '94(on a very, very tight budget). Irony? That Probe, produced along side the Mazda 626(since shortened to just Mazda 6) was built at the Flatrock plant, which is where our S197s are born.[8D]
When you're the leader of the pack, you never rest. Okay, some may claim that some areas of the S197 are half-baked, and that certainly is true(so an extent). Although, if you've ever wondered why a loaded 4 cylinder Corolla costs more than a V-6 S197, well, Ford had to make concessions to appeal to a wide range of people that want as much glamour for their dollar as possible. Does this compromise quality and panache? Yes and no. Mechanically our cars are up there in reliability, but crude around the edges(live axle, low dollar plastics, fit and finish questions), but not to the point where it becomes a liability in selling the car. I've driven(back in the day) 5.0 Fox bodies when new, and the redesigned SN95('94) and New Edge('99) and they are light years behind the S197 in terms of everyday usability and reasonable comfort. A friend, who's owned over 10 various Fox bodies and SN95/New Edge cars said that the new 'Stangs(S197) are more Bimmer-like and didn't seem like what he was accustomed to what a Mustang was. I must concur.

+1, but I can't really call the charger a pony car. I hope the change it so that its the challenger's big brother like it should be

I would look so muckh better as a bigger version of this:

That looks like the concept pic from 4 or so years ago, even a couple of years ago before the present Charger debuted. I remember being pissed, because when the present Charger came out, I was thinking it looked NOTHING like the concept.

...and it was supposed to run on natural gas.

But it was always going to be a 4 door, because Diamler said basically, "no one wants to buy a 2 door anymore, it won't sell as a 2 door".....

Who knows if the Challenger is even coming out, because of the recent buy of Chrysler, but from what I've heard, it will be very expensive, like as much or more than a GT500 w/ markup, and a long waiting list!

I think this sucker looked badass. Way better than the four door grocery getter that dodge actually built. By the way, that concept is 9 years old. (I have the '99 hotwheels of it)
