From the digging that I have done, the SSR is slightly heavier than the standard roof (I think I read 14 lbs.?), and actually stiffens the car even more than the standard roof.

I really don't get why Saleen didn't install a sunshade on the scenic roof...

If it stiffens the car then it would be worth 3.5k but 5k? That's a little too much.

ORIGINAL: VanGTCS

With the GlassBack there is apparently more of a gap between the front window and roof, and between the rear window and roof. Also, there is apparently extra plastic molding on the GlassBack, or larger plastic molding perhaps.

There are pretty good pictures of the SSR here - http://www.netcarshow.com/saleen/200...1_scenic_roof/, compared to the GlassBack here - http://www.glassbackroof.com/image_gallery.html
Thanks for the links VanGTCS, the SSR looks great also. Isn't everything Saleen premium priced?

$4000, WOW! I was quoted much less than that. Hopefully they will deliver at that price when the roof kit arrives.

I've had my Glassback for a week now... I absolutely love it!!! I've been wanting one for a long time... MRT put a prototype in the Interceptor back in 2005... What finally got me to pull the trigger was when I seen the new trim pieces at Carlisle a few weeks ago! The new pieces are a 100 times better than the originals...Theold pieceswere like big pieces ofplastic...For those that didn't follow the link to my write up...

And of course the "black" roof look sooooo good on my car!

Glassback!! I have it on my 2007 GT and I love it. It does cost a pretty penny but it really does set the car apart from the herd. You have to point it out to most people since stated before it does look like you painted your roof a nice glossy black. The glass is tinted however it does get hot. I talked to some of the targa top corvette guys and there is a product out there (the name escapes me right now) that is like a static cling tint. So that in addition to the already tinted glass should do the job. I will be playing around with fabbing something up myself but still in the planning stages. The Webasto rep(company who installs the roof)loved my car in Daytona and took a ton of pics of it at Super Stang fest (I won ladies choice). Go glass....
