Default Thinking about tinting tail lights

Well I want to tint my tail lights. Does anyone have a how to, or instructions on this? Also does anyone have pics, and what percent tint did you use. Thanks

This is a new one on me! I've seen the blackout tailights, but never true tint. At least I don't think the blackouts are true tint, are they? Is that even legal? I don't know how tint would really differ from blackouts, but I could see that being some screwy law.

Sorry, I know this doesn't help with your question in any way, but I had to state my thoughts!

There were some transparent (static cling vinyl type) ones I had thought about at one time. They had 50% and 75% tint I believe. I decided against it because even if it wasn't against the law and you were rear ended instead of the other person clearly being at fault, they could appeal and say that they could not see your brakes lights; afterall they are modified and no way can they be as bright as OE... since I have some custom fabwork on the deck lid, if I get rearended I don't want any 'grey area'... it's just not worth it for me. ,,,now what if the hit caused personal injury....YIKES... just not worth it man.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to alter the OEM function of tail-lights in most states....and +1 on what fairlane said about getting rear-ended.

All the ones I have seen clearly state "for show use only".[]

I have 50% tint from Autobadges.com on my car.... No problem with visibility. Easy to install and easy to remove if you want later.

I've had my MRT taillight tint on for almost 18 months... never stopped... never rear ended...

driver's sided tinted... passenger's is not..

Before and after:

The nice thing about the overlays is they are not as obvious as a cover... The taillight still looks factory... just darker...
