+1 I agree, just like brake calipers, how often is anyone gonna be up real close to see the quality of the paint job?

I believe they are magnesium valve covers; done for their light weight not looks.
Mine get REALLY dirty! lots of black dust/sludge builds up on them. I suppose painted or chrome ones would be easier to clean... Or at least you'll be able to tell if you got them clean!

That is interesting. I just purchased a 2007 GT and the covers look like ten year old dingy bare aluminum. What was the change on 2007 heads that required a different cam/valve cover?
What was changed was the cost for Ford had to spend. They reduced approximately 10 fasteners plus the tooling costs for the valve covers & heads. When you multiply that by the number of GT's sold per year, that is a big savings in their pocket. I just changed mine on my 06 because they looked like crap from day one. I ordered the Steeda covers which were the 07 style. The 07's will fit on the 05-06's. Unfortunately it does not work the other way around. 05-06 covers will not work on the 2007’s.This was probably some of the best money I spent on the car at least when it comes to appearance. Very easy install...

Did they come painted in the blue or did you have that done/did it yourself? Look nice.
I ordered them from Steeda for around 280.00 shipped. They are the Ford factory cam covers and come powder coated in your choice...Blue, Red, Black or Yellow. The install was very easy.

That is always an option and was a consideration originally. I just let the money burn a hole in my pocket and went with it. I have seen alot of people on the forum do them there self and they appear to look just as good from the pics.
