O2 sensors with LT's

I'll probaly have some LT's within a week. I called JDM and they said their tunes turn off the O2 sensors, so not to worry if I don't have them installed by the time I get there for their dyno tune. I understand there are O2 sensor "extensions" and "MIL eliminators" too. Now the O2 sensors must serve a purpose, no? What is the advantage of having them hooked up or not? Do you need them for anything? Thanks.

you could have them hooked up with a catted setup. im not quite sure what they do,,something with emissions. nothing for you to worry about though. if you want them on i believe 02 extensions are around 40 bux

From what I understand (and see under the car) there are two sets of O2 sensors. The forward ones in the pipe go to the PCM to set A/F ratio. The two rears (in the cats) are simply for emmissions monitoring. But beware, my car just flunked NC inspection for O2 sensors "not ready." This is with them installed too. The inspector said to disconnect the battery and then drive around a couple of hunderd miles to reset the values. Hope it works...

The front o2 sensors take samlings pre cats and the rears after cats. The Spanish Oak adjusts the mixtures while you are not under wide open throttle, At wot the computer ignores the samplings and uses the pre-programmed fuel tables that are in the processor,

I have all 4 hooked up with my L/T's. I get a CEL once in a blue moon from a slow response from the sensors.I clear it and all is well. If youdonot have them hooked up, or have them shut off in the tune, if you have an emmissions test done, you flunk. They will get an incomplete test code even though you do not have a CEL.

So if you fail even if they're turned off, how are you supposed to pass?

LT's and Smog test dont like each other[sm=vader.gif]..........Just find a Smog testguy that will modify the test so you pass if you know what i mean.....;) every state and city has them.....

Well, if I'm going to flunk the smog test, I may not get the LT's. I don't need that hassle.

Thanks Musiccity!
If my values do not set when I go in to re-inspect, I guess my sensors got toasted when I was running too rich. In NC, if you flunk inspection twice and spend $200 trying to repair the emissions, you get a waiver.
