How important is the Brand Name of Pads?

RE: How important is the Brand Name of Pads?
Hawks aren't THAT expensive... I spent $46 or so on lame front Duralast ceramic pads from Autozone. Hawks are what, $75? Not too bad to get a good name.
On that note - the Duralast pads work fine, and I autocrossed fine with them. I like the idea of buying crappy expendable stuff and just dropping in new ones when I feel like it.... Like I said, they're working fine.

The Hawk pads are not really necessary unless one is road racing or needs that extra stopping power at the end of a 1/4 mile. If your only driving on the street buy the stock pads and save $.

+ 1, except if you do heavy city driving like I do. I don't have the Hawks on my GT yet, so I can't speak for how well they perform on our cars, but I had them on my Hemi for a while, and it was night and day. Made a 6,500 pound truck stop like a sports car. So, if that's your bag, I'd get the Hawks.

2 things you shouls never be cheap on....
Good tires and good breaks...
They both can save your life...Spend the few extra and get the great quality stuff...
I always go beyond stock for tires and breaks...
Hawk does work extremly well...they are woth it...Change your pads to hawk with SS Brake lines and you will be amazed..
