Default Swapping Tires on Wheels Yearly

Some of you hopefully have some experience with this. If one were to buy an extra set of winter wheels / tires, and a set of race tires, and used the same wheels for both sets of tires (i.e., swapping them out on the same wheels year to year)....would that be feasible? Would there be too much wear on the wheels / tires beads by doing so?

The cost to have them mounted and balanced eachtime would quickly warrant another set of rims, IMHO.

Discount tire charges $150 to mount and balance 4 tires that are brought in from somewhere else... Which means after just 4 times you should've just bought new takeoff rims for $600 or so

I plan to buy new cheap 17" rims w/ race tires forautocross days

$150 seems high to me... but the thinking is dead on.... even if you could do it for $100 each time 2 years (2 changes a year) and you'd be better off having a complete extra set IMO..... plus the time and effort you'd save.

I just wrestled with this decision myself, and realized that it wasn't worth it.

I bought take-off Bullits with Pirelli tires for around $700.00 delivered, and put snows on my stock V-6 rims.

Now I can swap them seasonally in the driveway and have no tire transportation issues or anything else.

It's a no-brainer since wheel/tire sets are readily available so cheap.
