Default RE: Wax/polish preferences??

ORIGINAL: krahez

GTJUNKIE and 06GT4RAD,
All I was saying was there was you shouldn't HAVE to clay unless the surface is rough. We all have our preferences, and all our cars shine like diamonds in a goat's a$$. I bought my 05 used and clayed it to start with a smooth canvas. Now I just maintain (almost daily) it's tough, but glad I don't have a black stang.
I understood 100% what you were saying and I am telling you that is incorrect. Brand new cars unless they have already been clayed and detailed should be clayed as most dealerships DO NOT clay cars. By the time your car arrives it has had tons of crap hit the finish and claying removes it all. Simple washing alone does not do it.

Also it is dam near impossible to harm the finish unless you have your head up your *** and drop the clay and then proceed with claying with pebbles in the clay bar. What i do is cut the bar into 4 pieces that way if I do happen to drop it while claying I do not lose the whole bar. As long as you use good clay and plenty of lube it is pretty hard to damage anything.
