how many miles on Synthetic?
 

I have been running synthetic and have heard different opinions on how many mile you can run it for. Some say 3000, and i've heard up to 5000. What do you think?

With a good synthetic like Royal Purple you can easily go longer than 5000. I do personally cap the mileage at 5000 and tend to do it before that. If you want to get the most out of your oil I have heard that the emphasis should be on a good filter. Like a Mobil 1.

To run past 5000 miles should only be done after the oil has been analized. If you find out you can go longer, then just change out the filter and top it off.

I change my oil every six months to the day. This is typically about 1200 miles for me.

I change mine twice a year full syn Mobil 1. Once after storage and once before storage. So about every 1800-3500 miles.

The manual says 5000 miles for regular oil. Shouldn't synth last even longer?

Just because its synthetic doesn't mean it doesn't get just as dirty as any other oil; so I would change mine at manuf. recommended intervals.

I beat the crap out of my car so every 3k for me. if I just drove it reg with out the nitrous and all the other stuff i would go 5k

It willl last longer than Dino oil. Won't break down like the Dino. The oil we use in our engines is a drop in the bucket when comparing what regulates the price of oil. So many factors and frequent oil changes ain't one of em.
