255/45 on an 18" wheel gives you the same total tire HEIGHT as stock. If you're stock wheels were 18's then the sidewall will be the same. If you're stock wheels were 17" then the new ones will actually have LESS sidewall then stock.

the 45 series tire will be taller than the 40, but not by much. If you want substantial taller than go to a 55 series tire.

Why not run 275/40/18's all the way around? They will fit on your 18x9's with no problem.

How about issue's with rubbing when lowered? I like the idea of 275's on 18x9's

255/45 will be a bit smaller than the stock 235/50/18... but you really cant tell to the naked eye... its about .25" in difference in diameter... so .125" top and bottom... very hard to see....

a 275/40 will also be smaller than stock by about .6" so .3" on the sidewalls

a 275/45 will be about .5" bigger than stock.. so .25" on the sidewalls...

Whatever size you choose, Make them all the same, so you can rotate them. and Different diameter tires mess's with your ABS.

It's easy to understand if you go to extremes with different tire size. Your ABS reads each tire revolutions and applies or takes away break pressure accordingly. So lets put 16s on the front and 24s on the back, 16s are 25 inch dia and 24s are 30 inch diameter. When you stand on the break the 24s are turning slower and so the system will apply more pressure to the front and the front will skid which will turn off they system, and make the whole thing a mess.
People with ABS should use there ABS system on a clear road under good conditions, Just to see what the ABS system does, so it wont be a surprise when you have to use the system and you wonder just what went on.

I went with 255-45-18 on the front of mine. Plenty big enough for these cars. My rears are 285-40-18, I wanted meat out back as I can't seem to stop breaking loose through 3rd gear.
