3.5 inch ahtenna and you wonder why you can't get decent reception? Truth be told, all the short antennas blow when it comes to reception. A while back some ingenius folks in this chat got the terrific idea to cut down their original antenna to a length that is somewhat longer then a shorty but shorter then stock. This makes so much sense that I went out and found some stranger to kick me in my **** for not thinking about it first.

i saw the antenna on a post early this week. they said it didn't effect the reception, so i was letting anyone interested know that it did effect mine. i live in a small town aleast 30miles from any stations (those are the ones i still get), but the major market is about 50miles. i didn't want to cut mine down so i could put it back on if i didn't like it. the new ones was only $25 shipped, so no biggie.
as for the remote range, isn't the wire wrapped around the antenna rod the remote antenna.

There are many factors that effect radio reception. Antenna length is one of them. The reason some people don't seem to have their radio reception effected is because there is another factor that is compensating for how short the antenna is, on example would be the distance from the radio stations transmitter.

I cut the stock ones all the time. Ive done all my own. I make it about the height of the roof. Perfect. In fact, I'm starting to make them for peeps for $5. got tired of doing them for free.
