so i am in the process of tinting my tail lights.. and.. .

in my 4th coat of clear.. i guess i went on to heavy, and there is a whitich area, with a huge sag or beging of a drip.. looks reall awesome!..

so now that im pissed, and probably buying new tails, i thought i would let you all know..


im goin to check them in liek 30 mins.. and see if it went away.. (i hope)..

other wise.. it was coming pretty good.. only like one more coat to go out of like 7 or 8. and then this happens.. sweet as$

So I'm reading what you said and come across "whitich " and I'm wondering ? What does whitich mean, I look in the dictionary, and nothin, I ask friends, Nothin. so I come to the conclusion, whitich means nothing. so. when you say,
" and there is a whitich area" you must be talking about nothin. and that would mean Whitich (or nothin) area, would translate to no area. so every thing is ok. Wheeeeeeuuu.,

no.. what i meant was whitish.. white - ish..

but i just checked it, and the white stuff is almost gone, but the sag is still there.. so whatever.. its fine.. i will get those black led tails one day..

i will get pics up when im finished, also of my new wheels..

next is the calipers!

Wait before you buy new tail lights !!! That sag can be fixed with some
wet sanding.(you need to anyway to achieve a smooth surface)Wet sand
the sag with1000 grit,get it level as possible(check throughout your process by
drying it off)Then 1500 grit,to 2000.After all wet sanding is done use a rubbing
compound(local auto paint supplier or autozone)Use the compound till all white haze
is gone,then a polishing compound.

what are u using to tint them? i have the GTS tail-light covers but want something more permanent. thanks!

thats exactly what im using..

i did my side markers a month or two ago, and they came out great... i just messed the tail light up bc i was getting impatient on my 4th coat of clear.. up untill then, it was great..

i recomend it.. after all.. even with the sag, it looks cool.. i kinda miss the old look.. but ill keep this for a while..

eleanor..- THANKS FOR THE HELP.. i am new to wet sanding and never really even been shown how/what to do.. only heard of it.. the sag is still there, and if i decide to keep the lights the way they are for good, then i will take this up and PM for the info.. its not terrible, but i can understand how that would work, and it is good info to know..

if maybe you want to explain a little bit onhere so we (i) can learn a little bit, feel free.. i appreciate the help,

u just add dish soap to water, put wet sandable sand paper into the sollution, and gently sand the surface until if looks good moving from coarser to finer paper as you work through it.

Are you spraying the lenses out of the car? ...you should. They will be sprayed laying flat so that there is very little risk of a run/sag. ...unless of course one cannot use a spray can either. ...but in a vertical pos it is quite likely to run/sag as did happen here.

well if i spray them face down, the paint wouldnt have come out even, or right.. bc the can would be almost horrizontal.. i thought aobu tthat b4 i did it.. but not for the reason that it could run.. i dunno .. whatever.. im not worried abou tit..
