Yeah, I was thinking about this, but if they give SAE corrected numbers, won't that take into account the bad weather?

Yes, it should. Also, keep in mind the different types of Dyno's. The Mustang dynotypically returns HP results 8-10% less than what a Dyno Jet will deliver. That was confirmed with my dyno today, which was a Mustang dyno. Just over 400 RWHP (in Hot Humid weather) , and on a Dyno Jet it was 443 RWHP (in Cool weather).

My question is a new h- pipe without cats and save about 1700 dollars or long tube headers and gain maybe 20 horsepower at peak? Where the other does about 8 all around?

Long Tubes (at least with FI) did not make any difference in HP rating. So, unless your willing to spend that money for sound (which I was) there is no gain in HP.

Wow. That sucks.

So no gains from headers no gains from mufflers. The only thing to be gained from anything on the exhaust side is in the crossover?

Yea, I saw no gains. But like I said, the LTs make an awesome sound! [8D][8D]

That is the first I have heard of no gains with the longtubes, the general consensus is that they are good for 15 - 20 rwhp. Brenspeed told me earlier todayon the phone (and I am guessing they have plenty of experience) that they typically see 10 - 15 (which may be just for the catted versions). I hope, for the sake of S197s everywhere, thatyour experience was just a freak occurrence!

Dude.... very difficult to believe...LTs are even a bigger pick up with F/I as long as you can take advantage of the added air-flow. I was considering it... and my tuner said 25-40 no issue.... as long as I had supporting mods needed to get there.... GT500 fuel pump and 60# injectors...as my motor would run out of fuel to get all that I could from LTs. I did not want to make my $1500 LT mod to become a $3000 mod... so I held off for now anyway.....

maybe you need some supporting mods and new tune...to get the added power.

Uh, supporting MODs, hmmm...let's see. I know, I'll get a SuperCharger! Seriously, though. I would consider a KB s/c a supporting MOD. And the dyno numbers don't lie. No bump in performance!

I would have the dyno shop adjust your tune to adjust your air fuel ratio. only takes a moment and ive read some posts where long tubes do you no good.. they are wrong. I gained 30 ft lbs of torque and 16 horsepower and that is after a 25 degree jump in temperature. you wont recieve a gain until you get your a/f adjusted properly. on mine I had to raise the wot fuel an additional 5% both on 2k-4k and 4k-7k. good luck.
