braided hose sleeves.. HELP ME REAL QUICK
Hey guys..
i got some of that steel braided hose wrap stuff for the vaccuum lines, and the radiator hoses and stuff.. basically want to know, if and when i undo the fittings on any of these hoses, is there any liquid or anything in there?..
like the radiator hose, i know coolant flows through it.. but when its off.. i dunno..
BASICALLY.. IS THERE GOING TO BE ANYHTING THAT WILL SPILL OUT OF THE TUBES WHEN I UNDO ANY OF THE CLAMPS/FITTINGS!?!
the sooner i get an answer the better.. i want to do this by tongiht..
thanks guys

RE: braided hose sleeves.. HELP ME REAL QUICK
Anything that is normally carrying liquids like the upper and lower radiator hoses will have at least some liquid in it. The lower in particular will start draining your cooling system when you disconnect it
The vacuum lines are pretty safe. Anything you need to take a wrench to remove you should think twice about what you are disconnecting (e.g. some are sealed systems like the A/C).
A lot of hose kits meant to be decorative are usually slit on one side so you can slip then on (like covers). I reckon you don't have that kind.

Yes, I assume you are talking about the upper and lower radiator hoses. There will be residiual fliud in there but not under any pressure. Make sure the engine is cold.

yeah I will tell you that the radiator hoses can make a mess...probably more for my car as it is S/C and there is pressure built up in them...even when cold...I chose NOT to f with my fuel lines either...personally I am going braided hoses next winter....and getting rid of the sleeves..

There's not too much pressure in the fuel lines (with the car shut off of course). When I pulled the line out of my fuel block, I just used a rag to catch the small amount of fuel that came out.

well i just did three hoses, the top radiator hose, and the hose on both valve covers that lead to the intake on the left side and intake manifold on the right side..
came out alright.. its deffinately not worth more than $20.. and if some one was trying to get a show car status, and look really good and spend top dollar.. do it the right way wiht real hoses no dought.. this works for me bc its onl apearance no matter what.. (real or fake) and i dont have the money for real..
i will get pics up when i finish tomarrow

RE: braided hose sleeves.. HELP ME REAL QUICK
I did this mod about two months ago and used the summit racing steel braided hoses....real hoses, just put the original ones in the cabinet for later. I did 5 hoses total, the hardest one being the PVC hose on the driver side. It really does set off the engine bay....I'll try to post pics after I get home from work.
