Most embarassing Mustang details...

RE: Most embarassing Mustang details...
I gotta tell ya, I love mine - coming over from a GM that rides like a cow in stilettos, my Mustang is pure joy - every ounce of it. [sm=Awwww.gif]
If we were going back to the good ole days... My wish list for the Stang would look something like this...
1) More Metal Please - should have more metal and less plastic.
2) Under the hood needs a "decor" boost.
3) Taillights: I LOVE how the water is diverted right into the electrical wiring harness for the lights...
4) Leather, Not Pleather
My standards aren't low, they're realistic for todays world and for a $26,000 car.

I work for Mercedes-Benz, have been a major automotive enthusiast all of my life, went through13 personal (foreign and domestic) vehicles just in last 5 years, blah, blah... Therefore I have a decent reference point in auto design and appearance.
It bugs me to see such terrible details in fit-n-finish ofone of my favorite cars: GT Mustang. I wonder what are some of the biggest gripes 05+ Mustang owners have with their rides?
Here are some of mine:
- Horrendous Key and Remote
- Exposed wires for the rear window defroster
- Clunking of the transmission/driveshaft, when shifting
- No Homelink
- 12V outlets are always hot, even when key is removed. Forgetting to unplug radar detector, Satellite radio could have you stranded with a dead battery.
- Awful long way to reach back for your seatbelt

Key/Remote -- I like my key and remote. I especially like thatI can take the key off the remote when I go for a jog or a swim, so I don't have to lug around a huge electronic key (like most luxury imports seem to have now) while I'm running or worry about frying an electronic key while swimming.
Homelink -- Is this like On-Star? If so, I have no desire whatsoever to have it. Just more crap to go bad or become obsolete in 15 years.
12V Outlets -- I like that they're always on so I can charge my cell phone while my car is parked. Buy an Optima battery if you need something stronger.
I will say that I'm getting some buzz in my door panels from the booming bass in the speakers. But that should go away after I install about $80 of dynamat insulation.
By thew way, over the past week, I've spoken with a neighbor who traded in his $70k Range Rover in for a new F-150 and a co-worker who has an '05 M3 convertible with 16k miles and both of them were complaining about how many rattles rattles and squeaks their cars have. So spending $50-70k on a car doesn't get you a trouble-free ride...

RE: Most embarassing Mustang details...
Would prefer a close ratio 5 speed or 6 speed rather than the current very wide ratio 5 speed.
Don’t like the throttle lag when you let off on the throttle and I don’t want to buy a tune to get rid of it.
Other than those items I think the beast is great and at 28k it is the best performance car for the money and award winning quality too!

You gotta sacrafice something if you are going to make this much fun and this much muscle in a price that is $25k. We all wish there were a few things that were better but that is what the aftermarket is for. I've found the seatbelt to be not bad at all when you use the seat hook on the bottom.

RE: Most embarassing Mustang details...
A lot of people are taking constructive criticism a bit too personally.
This is my 3rd V-8 Mustang, so obviously there is plenty I like about the car. It is a fantastic bang for your buck!
This thread is not about if the car worth $25k.........
