Question regarding initial install of a tune

Question regarding initial install of a tune
I know upon ordering a CAI/tuner combo they require the 4 digit calibration code.
1. Is the calibration code the same as the strategy code? If yes, is there anyway to verify the sticker on my ECU matches
the strategy code before ordering the tune?
2. How can I be sure the dealer hasn't changed the strategy code?
3. Should I hook up the tuner and check the strategy code before any tuneuploads?
hope this makes sense
Thanks in advance

RE: Question regarding initial install of a tune
Is this a custom tuner?? All he needs is the 4 digit code for the first tune, only after that you need to worry about the statagey code, that is my understanding??

RE: Question regarding initial install of a tune
OK 2cokeman is mostly correct, the strategy code is different than the 4 digit sticker however they are linked. What I mean is a certain strategy code will go with a certain 4 digit pcm code. Once you get your handheld from Doug(B.ama) plug it into the obd port and before loading the new tune check the strategy code to ensure it matches what you gave him. The thread I listed below will give you the info you need to keep from killing your PCM by loading a code that doesnt match. If your 4 digit pcm code matches the strategy code your handheld shows then your ok, if it doesnt back out unplug and have Doug redo the tune. Hope this makes sense
