I don't own an S197. Hell, I'm 17 years old. I want to buy an S197 Mustang one day, but now I/my parents don't have the money for it. I'm just wondering what people generally prefer. I assume Saleen is more famous, since I see them in more media (Forza 2, Transformers, etc.). However, the Shelby GT500 was compared to a Roush on Top Gear ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nehs9MENbJE ). But what to Mustang owners think?

for the 99-04, I like Saleen

for the 05-08, I like Roush

the new-edge styling of Saleen doesn't translate very well onto the retro platform IMO, but it looks beautiful on the 04-under.

Having to choose between the two, I prefer the Saleen over the Roush for it's "more complete" look(the body mods are more integral, Roush's seemed "tacked on" IMO). Saleen's S/C is light years ahead of Roush's(twin screw vs eaton) and the pedigree of Saleen speaks for itself.
Although building my own hot GT based Mustang is much more fun(and personal). Hope you realize your Mustang owning dream one day soon.......................................

Saleen all the way , id prob prefer the looks of a roush better but overall the supercharger in the saleen is a lot better to work with but if were just going for looks id prob say the roush, i do like the roush 427 though but they are one of the most rare stangs out there

Nothing against the Roush at all. But Saleen is much much more exotic imo, and even the saleen stang touches on being an exotic car. Love it!!!!!!!!

So it looks like Saleen is the favorite. Thank 05gtdriver for the sympathy. I live in an area in NY where kids get 3 series BMW's for their 17th birthdays, but my parents are Indian immigrants, so they don't really believe in buying me a car.
