Default Why is it so much money?

So i bring in my car today to get parts put on. I'm getting headers, catted x-pipes, and magnaflow magnapack system and the guy is charging me $720 for labor. Does it really take THAT long to put all the parts on?? He charges $89 an hour so that would be about 8 hours for installation. Is that too much?? He said it takes 6 hours to put headers on.

It does seem like a little longer....if they are long tubes you do have to lift the engine and so that does take some time.

Yep, too much. Meineke charged me about 550.00 for the header and X pipe install. They have to lift the engine to install the headers.

I work for Car X and thats too much... The guy just saw dollar signs when you pulled up. I would say to put on your own system, it would be around $300. Most places charge more when you bring in your own part cause they can't make any markup.

Generally the install for an 05 + is about $500 for long tubes and X-pipe. There is no need to lift the enigine out of the car for the install. Some places do charge more if they are not the headers that particular shop does not sell. Main reason for this is that there may be fitment issues. Most places have a set price for a specific set of headers because they already know exactly how long it will take to install and that there will be no issues .
