Default So I have a limited budget...

I'm a 17 year old guy and I love the new mustangs. A ridiculous amount of people at my school have them so it's kind of jaded but I stilllove the car so I decided i'm going to get one no matter what. My budget is pretty low, around $15,000, but i'm working to get more money. Obviously I won't be able to get a GT, but if I got a 2005 standard model (used), would I be able to do anything to the engine (within reason, keeping money in mind) to make it more powerful?

Overall, post 2005 stangs under 15k are hard to find but i've looked on various websites and i've managed to find some with decent mileage.

So... any input?

The 05 + V6 mustang is pretty much the fastest car you can get under 20k (selling 19k in my area), its a great car. A Cold air intake/Tune will make it respond better, better shift points and kill throttle lag. Not too expensive around 400 + area, but if you really want to make a V6 nasty, a supercharger or turbo which will run you into the $4000 range. Remember this, you can make any car hell on wheels fast just gotta dedicate time, and budget to it

I put down $12500 cash and a $1700 trade in and my payments are $300/month for 5 years. But, at 17 insurance will kill you.

You can easily get a S197 V6 into the mid-low 14's. It is the fastest car you can buy new for under $20k.

You could probably find an older Mustang V8 for around that price. May take some time to find one in good condition.

Personally, I would for a 99-04 model year GT for the same price range. Way more power than the 4.0, more affordable on insurance. But you gotta decide which body style you like best.
