Default I dont want to beat a dead horse and ask about UDPs...

But I will anyways.

I really really want UDPs, probably Steeda's, though I'm intrigued by MMR's.

Anyways, I keep reading about problems UDPs can give cars. True or not? I'm not just talking about alternator or pump problems, but something about the inside of the engine loses some dampening from vibration with aftermarket sets.

Discuss.

And on that note.... I dont let anyone touch my car. So I plan on doing it myself. What special tools? I've read a lot on how to install them, it seems I only need the gear puller. One set of instructions said an impact wrench is only necessary for cars with auto trannys?

Anyways thanks guys, just weary of this latest idea I have to blow money on.

No problems at all with them. Only down side is no gains either. Maybe 2-4 hp, but nothing worth the $200 they are

If your heart is set on them you dont "need" any special tools. I had an impact gun and that was all

I have had the Steedas for a long time now with absolutely no problems and a noticable gain.

Bitchin I tell ya, Bitchin.

I'll order the Steeda's tonight imo.

Last question... Can you get the main gear thingy part off without a gear puller? Can you get the bolt out without an impact wrench?

I got it off without a gear puller. Im sure you could do it without an impact gun as well, but dont quote me on that one since i used one.

The first time I tried this, it took me about 6 hours and I had to give up. But don't fret, it's not really that bad if you have the right tools. I wrote an article on how to do it and I listed all the tools you will need. Fortunately most auto parts chains (autozone, pep boys, etc) will loan you the tools you need for free with a credit card deposit. There's a few trick I learned and a few things you need to look out for. It's all in the article.

http://www.cherod.com/mustang/HowTo/Pulleys.htm

Since then I've done it for a few friends and I have it down to about two hours now.

I just had it done by a local shop and they needed a gear puller. MakeSURE their gear puller fits the05-07 Mustang (the shop hadone for earlier models as well but it wouldn't work on the S197). Also, make sure they don't forget to re-hook up the electric fan (like my guy did). I make it down the road and all of a sudden I noticed smoke rolling out from under my hood due to radiator boil over! Ouch! Thankfully the dispached some folks to help me (I had no idea they removed the fan).
