Default First oil/filter change????

Just read Tcaobills writeup, awesome!

Just wanted to know if the majority agrees with the Mobil oil and FILTER he used, or is there any other brand to try??

Don't know if a filter is a filter or if the new ride needs any special attention, thanks.

Also, definitely go with synthetic vs Dino????

My car was manufactured 9 months before I bought it, so I changed it at 1000 miles (itchin to get the syn blend crap out anyway)...I use mobil one 5w20 and mobil one filter, plan on changing it every 3 mos/3K...

Definately use synthetic. Please. Mobil 1 is the best but you can experiment with synthetics... I'm sure quaker's new 'Q' is fine, and Ive had good experience with Valvoline.

I sway away from makers like royal purple and amsoil. Lots of marketing hype and a ton of weird additives in these brands of oils.

Also, use motorcraft filters... They are some of the best and also cost close to the cheapest... Can't go wrong with them. Oh and its the filter Ford specifically names also.

There are tons of good synthetic oils out there...same for filters. Royal purple, Redline, amsoil are all very good synthetics also. Ford racing seems to have the best filter around and so are the motercraft filters. Mobil 1 filter will do the job also.

Mobil One and K&N oil filters. I am switching to motorcraft oil filter as I was told they work great.

Default RE: First oil/filter change????

thanks for the replies.

I will be picking up the Mobil 1 and Motorcraft filter this week. I have already put over 1000 miles on it ( will be running 22k+ a year) and from reading some of the post on the forum it seems like a 1000 is good for the first change??

I was use to taking my hard to reach Hondas to the shop but I am looking forward to changing the 07 stangs oil like his older 66 sister. I will pick up some ramps with my 5 quarts and give it a try.
