I have never owned an Altima, but had 5 Maximas back-to-back. 3 of them were the 3.5L VQ motor. Excellent car, great overall bang for your buck.
However I too don't see what are you trying to compare??? Acceleration, comfort, roominess, refinement, cool factor??? I don't get it...
I don't get people asking others which car to get and not give us any criteria to base our recommendations on.
