CAI Question

A fellow 'Stanger asked me to post this for him, he's having trouble getting on the site lately (me too...). Obviously, I know nothing about this - searched it on here and came up empty... any help would be appreciated... Thanks in advance!! [sm=helpout.gif]

>>I have a Ford Racing cold air intake with a reusable filter, and was wondering what is the proper air filter cleaner kit to use?

RE: CAI Question

some may consider it wasteful, but I plan on just replacing my C&L CAI filter...if you underoil the filter, you can lose airflow and therefore hp, but if you overoil it, you can send the oil up the intake and take out emissions sensors...I'd just as soon spend the 50 bucks every 15-30K miles, just my two cents...

RE: CAI Question

Its not hard to clean it using he cleaning kit. Just be sure to use a very light coating of oil.

+1 on just replacing.
Already have my replacement here and waiting.

RE: CAI Question

also, as far as just replacing it goes, I don't know how other brands are, but for instance for total service time to properly clean a k&n is about 24 hours (spray on cleaner, rinse out with water, let it AIR DRY [can't use compressed air], apply the new oil let it AIR DRY again then touch up any areas that aren't purple in color and finally, reinstall...)
and as I mentioned earlier, the line between underoiling and losing performance, and overoiling and taking out a sensor (not to mention dripping purple oil everywhere) is kind of blurry...but hey to each his own...

RE: CAI Question

I'm all about spending $50.00 and saving the aggrivation. Knowing me I would have to go get a dyno to check the hp after staying up for a week straight wondering if I did it right.
