Softening GT500 Market [Prices]
As many have anticipated, I sense that GT500 prices are beginning to soften - at least from what I have seen recently.
About 2 weeks ago, I went over toSutton Ford for a FRPP oil filter [Matteson, IL - about 30 miles from Chicago]. On the floor was a new GT500 coupe - blk / white stripes.
I asked the price and the young sales guy said $45K which was the MSRP. I asked him if he was sure, and suggested that he go check on it. He comes back and says now it's $10K over and that he was wrong. Since he was a young guy [and I was not a serious buyer], I didn't stroke him around or waste my time haggling about the misqouted price. I simply said no thanks, and walked over to the parts counter.
In seconds, he was behind me at the parts counter and wanted to know if "... I wanted to talk ..." The dealership also had a new alloy grey GT500 in stock, and he invited me to "talk" about either one. I declined.
My gut however was that either of these vehicles could be had for something near MSVP [maybe $5K over - my guess]. I am not advocating that anyone purchases a vehicle for over sticker and I really don't know if this is a good price, but I wanted to toss it up here for those who are seriously looking for a GT500. Sorry I didn't get around to postingfor a couple of weeks.
Funniest moment however was this: When the sales guy went to check on the price, another sales guy walks up. I ask him if the hood vents on the GT500 hood can be closed. It was the first time I saw the hood up close. No he says.
I then ask him what happens if it rains? He goes on to explain that - that is the best part. When it rains, smoke [?] pours from the engine compartment and you [driver] would look cool in front of all your friends. Another great example of a knowledgeable Ford sales person.

I tend to agree. Lots of them (2-3 pages new and used) appearing on EBAY. Many of them are ending without any bids whatsoever. While EBAY probably gets the highest prices right now, my guess is after a year of these cars being out and owned that the novelty is wearing off for some people. Some people invested in them and are afraid to drive them everyday so they sit at home. It can be expensive that way. Also, continued production into 08 has many current owners upset that the cars they paid ADM charges to obtain will now have 5000 more brothers and sisters.

I have seen three GT500's in my city alone with owners and we have a population just over 100k.
Not NEARLY as rare a site as I would've thought.
Bad news in many ways such as the GT guys don't look as good now haha.

Its all supply and demand. Yes, limited production, but now with the KR coming out and another "select" mustang coming out every year, it dilutes the value of each model each year... you're crazy to pay much over invoice....

Well, back in late '04/early '05 the GTs were being sold anywhere from $3-15K over sticker and lots of suckers(I mean people) bought them athigher than MSRP. I nearly considered a V-6(for about the length of the test drive[:'(]) and was determined to get a GT for MSRP(or better[:@]). Went to a small dealership in Fullerton CA and bought my premium GT(in black) for $27,050(MSRP) in March of '05.
I was so happy for getting one at sticker, I wrote MM&FF and told them of my experience(they published my letter in their July '05 issue). Just a waiting game fellas, by 2009 I'm sure many of us(GT/V-6 owners) will be at the track in our GT500s................................
