LSD Fluid Change Intervals? (T-Lok)

RE: LSD Fluid Change Intervals?
Oh, and I was told Ford has now released carbon-metallic pads for the T-Lok instead of the basic ones that come with it. The mechanic I was talking to raced his GT, has the 3.73 rear-end, and says they are much better. FYI.

RE: LSD Fluid Change Intervals?
First off, I own a repair shop. I dont see the need to post too much on here because there are alot of informed people here. But, heres my .02. I changed mine at about 5100mi. Nasty stuff came out. All the break in flakes floating around in there wont do a diff any good if left there.. There certainly isnt anything wrong with regular changes. I dont see any reason why you would need to do it very often. Probably combine it with a 30k or 60k service, after an initial early change. Its should be considered regular maintenance like the cooling system or transmission. Those are (should) be done every 2-3 anyway.
Special fluid? Yes. Synthetic 75w90 with a limited slip additive. I put in Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 with THEIR lsd additive. I say their additive because I had to do it twice. The first time was with Amsoil only, because the Severe Gear is suppose to have the additive already in it. Within a few days, groaning came from the hind end. So I put in a generic additive from the parts store. After 2 weeks, groaning sounds came from the rear end again while turning. Drained it all out and put in Amsoil gear oil again, with their additive. No more noise since. I certainly didnt think the additive would make a difference, but it did. So, if anyone tries Amsoil in the rear diff, use their additive, period.
I'm sure this may be a bit lengthy, but, isnt this what forums are for? Telling each other those small trivial tips that help.
