RE: Yet more goofy tune questions
Here's what Brent had to say:
1) Do the Brenspeed tunes turn off the adaptive learning in my '07 Mustang GT, or am I still going to have to retrain the drive by wire throttle every now and then?
"I think you are talking about two different things. But to answer your question the car will not adapt to remove performance. "
2) When I ordered the tunes, I specified 91 as the highest octane around here. But since then I noticed some stations selling 92. Would this be ok to use? I realize that you never ever want to use a lower octane than the tune is built for, but what about a higher octane? My brain is telling me that since a higher octane would be even less prone to detonation that running 92 octane on a 91 tune should be ok, even though I may not be getting the most out of the 92 gas.
"Yes run 92 with the 91 octane tune. The knock sensors will see the higher octane and add timing if there is enough difference between your 91 and 92 in your area. "
So from his response to question 1 it would seem that the drive-by-wire throttle response and the adaptive learning are two separate things.. maybe this is where some confusion arises in discussion.. And in regards to answer #2, I read in a magazine that our cars don't employ knock sensors, but in this case I'm leaning towards Brent's response -perhaps there's some other means of knock detection other than the traditional knock sensors. I'm curious if there's anything about them in the Helms manuals..

RE: Yet more goofy tune questions
If you drive like a normal person (impossible when driving a GT), after a while you may lose some of that snap of the tune, just reload it again and your good to go. As far as octane, when I put 94 Octane in it feels even better.......I don't think it's my imagination
