Anyone had any paint problems with they're hoods on 05' s? My hood underneath in the front has some bubbling paint and some corrosion.Ford has had a huge problem with this on other models.I took mine to the dealer today and will know something tomorrow on what they will do as a fix.I've heard from a Ford bodyman that they will replace the hood with a steel hood.There is contamination under the paint on the aluminum. If you've had this problem ,I'd like to know how Ford handled it on your end. I know Ford changed to steel hoods on the 06 & 07's.........wonder why??????

My paintless dent guy told my that many manufacturers are using aluminum hoods, not just Ford or the Stang.

i got the same bubbling going on too, just noticed it so i havent done anything about it yet....let me know how the dealer handles it

Hi i work at a ford dealer bodyshop i have taken in some cars with this consern not may 2 or three all of them have been by the bottom leading edge.No they wont replce the hood, i would not want the hood replced on mine,thearea where the oxidation is will get sanded down then the metal gets treated some primer and refinishing good as new if the shop is slow you should get your car back the same day if you leave it real early.I have seen this in the past with the expeditions after the repair they never come back so dont worry about it.07 and 08 hood still aluminum.

theres a couple spots under the front lip and then i have one area starting to form under one of my stripe on the leading edge of the hood.

07gt........these hoods have been contaminated with steel somewhere in production as you know.Here's the problem as I see it, spot repairs are good for now,but,how about in a year or two when the warranty is gone? Ford will say tough luck.I've read several blogs on the net with people having repairs done with they're expeditions/explorers only to have more corrosion problems down the road.Ford has known about this problem now for a while and as you know has TSB's on this.Replacing the hood ,prepping it properly and painting is the real solution.Ford needs to get they're act together on this.What really pisses me off is I have a SHAKER installed on my hood with a center stripe.Now I'll have to deal with that.
