To steeda or not to steeda
So after much advice from many of you I will be making the first serious mod on my gta cold air intake and sct tuner. Now that I have this established, my main problem is that the steeda cold air and high flow inlet elbow is now only one of the choices I am seeing as beingof goodquality. Up until nowi wasset on the steeda, but after hearing all thehypeabout c&l,Jlt, etc.im starting to consider other options. Anyone have the steeda setup? Is itreally one of the best or are there other companies out there making a better system forthe s197s?
Thanksin advance!!!

RE: To steeda or not to steeda
Steeda is an awesome company, and really does their research on everything.
That being said.... CAI's are all made the same I hate to say... Yes some materials may change, but in the end the gains are the same. Like the dumb special 'elbow' thats sold seperately. it does nothing.
The hype you hear about JLT and C&L is the fact that they cost cheaper, yet perform the same (or better). You can't go wrong with any big name CAI + tune.

RE: To steeda or not to steeda
that answer makes no sense and is very misleading.
JLT- $200...........C&L - $350 BIG difference
There is a VERY big difference between the different CAI's - the MAF diameter. If they were all the same the tunes would be the same for all of them now wouldn't they? Some don't require a tune at all.
The plastic piped versions will have less heat soak than the cast aluminum versions.
I don't care for the Steeda/FRPP unit because it uses the factory inlet tube, which is flimsy and has ridges that disrupt the airflow. If I had it to do again I would go with the JLT for cost.
The C&L and JLT are going to be easiest to get tunes for simply because they are the most popular. I recommend the C&L simply because they now have a maf restrictor available so that it will work without a tune, so you don't have to remove the intake for dealer visits.

RE: To steeda or not to steeda
If you have plans for big horsepower down the road (Minus Forced Induction since most have their own form of Intake... with the exception of Saleen and whoever else.) such as heads, cams, etc, etc, etc. Then go with the largest. C&L Racer I think is the biggest out. Somewhere around 95mm. The aluminum cast which most of us have is I think 83 mm? Some say unless you have supporting modifications (heads, cams, headers, etc.) Then the larger CAI actually costs you some horses but I haven't seen any actual proof.

Steeda a great company but that tuner is gonna come with a canned tune.
Places like Brenspeed, B A M A an all the others are the way go.
Big Diffrence between the two,
JLT or C&L CAI are good.

I chose the Tuneable Induction by DeMolet, with xcal 2, tuned by www.brenspeed.com, couldn't be happier. I think there is similar performance between CAI's, but the important part it the tune.
Choose wisely young grasshopper.
