Is there a way to repair the side mirror if its cracked? what type of plastic is thehousing made of? If it can be repaired I will have to sand both housing down and have them painted to match the body color.

You can buy an exact replacement mirror for $49.00 to $65.00 depending on where you decide to buy it from. Below is a link to one of those sellers. You can get the mirrors cheaper on Ebay. I bought two new mirrors and painted them so I wouldn't have any down time while I swapped mirrors. The mirrors are exact in every way and are power.
