Default Passenger Air Bag Light

My '07 recently begin intermittent illumination of the "PASS AIR BAG OFF" light with someonein the passenger seat. I've tried having them move around, unbelt and rebelt but there seems to be no rhyme or reason. Has anyone had a similar problem? I'll be going back to the dealership for them to check on some other things (the Stang came with a slightchatter in the clutch and whatfeels like mild tire unbalance) but you know how those intermittent things go...

Rick,

You left out one important piece of information - How much did your passenger weigh? Our 11yo son weighs about 90lbs, andthe airbag light will act like yours when he's in the car. If the sensor detects a light load (i.e. a child or carseat), it will turn off the airbag. I've seen women post here about the same issue when they put their purse in the passemger seat.

If your passenger was an adult, then you definitely should have it checked out by the dealer.

My wife uses a lumber cushion for her lower back which forces her butt a little forward from the 'normal' place. When she's riding with me the confused Airbag light goes on and off so much it's like a 70's disco on my dash LOL

Have your passengers either eat more or go on a diet so the sensor is not confused!

It happened with both my sons, ages 20 and 22 weighing between 130 and 150 lbs., plus while I was in the passenger seat (I'm 160). Maybe it happened when the 22 y/o proved to me that the rev limiter was working... I probably was squirming a lot. [sm=insomnia.gif] I'll have the stealership check it out when I take it in forfew other things.

Ya my wife weighs under 100 and it always stays OFF. I had one of my friend ride in my car, he weighs 140 and it was still off. You would think ford would fix this problem cause if I was to get in an accident and a passenger hurt because the airbag was OFF...that could be a major lawsuit on their hands.
