Default gas mistake/need advice

Ok, I screwed up.

Irecently installed a CAI and a 91 tune. Today I was at less than 11 miles to empty an decided to stop for some gas. I was 2/3 of the way full before I realized that I had selected 87. I stopped what I was doing and filled the remaining 1/3 of the tank with 91.

Can I simply run the tank dry, with a little engine pinging, or do I need to do something else ???

load up an 87 tune, everyone should have an 87 tune, just in case you get some bad gas or something

or... you could buy 3 bottles of the highest quality octane booster you can find. i've heard this from one of the biggest ford truck tuners around.

Unfortunately i got a 93, 91, and 89 tune.

Can I simply run the tank dry or is that not a good idea?

It will not hurt anything as long as you drive easy. dont do any hard acceleration and wot until fuel gets low enough and add more 91. most 91 octane tunes are not that aggressive

Actually, I checked my SCT Xcal2 and it did have an 87 tune. So, I loaded the new tune into the car. As soon as I am done with this tank of gas I will put in 91 and go back to the other tune.

thanks for your help.

if you have 05 0r newer don't use octane boost, will foul your plugs!if you can get any racing gas,and you are about full, top off with the racing gas.if you cant't take it easy till you get down to 3/4 and put the highest octane you can get.

indeed, i've heard bad things about octane boost in these cars.
putting the 87 tune back was a good move. you can run a higher octane w/ a lower tune
but not 93 tune on 87 octane. of course you could, but take it easy.
