so gears are on my head for the next few months, wonduring if all i need to buy is the gears alone and then take it to a auto shop for install. or should i get the install kit and gear oil too? thanks

Talk to your local shop, they sometimes won't warrantythe installunless you buy all the parts from them.

Any shop will do it without you bringing anything (call ahead of time to confirm they have what you need)

Most shops expect tuner guys to bring their own gears, and the shop will provide (and charge you) when extra items are needed, and of course for the gear oil at the end.

Many people, including TacoBill who did a thread on his watching the guys who did his gears, brought in his own gear oil as well as an axle girdle to put back on instead of the axle cover.

Just talk to any shop that is either a performance shop or a differential shop. They've talked to thousands of guys just like you before, and know what you want and that youll probably bring some things.

This is all useless info because I'm not using your shop, but I brought everything just to be sure the job didn't hita snag and have the car tied up any longer than necessary (gear set, install kit, 3 fluid, additive, rtv, inner pinion bearing and race)...
