Bubbling paint underhood 2005 Mustangs
For everyone,I just took my GT to the dealer to get the hood repaired. The paint under the hood in front has some bubbling that is corrosion of the hood itself. The hood or paint was contaminated before it was painted.Just thought I'd let everyone know so they can check they're cars.Ford has had this problem with other vehicles but not Mustangs(so I'm told).Let me know if you have experienced this also.Legend GT

Hey llsandll....remember i had to have my entire hood repainted and stripes replaced cause of the exact same problem....as long as you dont have any mods close to the affected area, they cant blame it on you, thus, it will be covered under warranty.....
Also, try to see to it that you get a new hood and not just a re-painted one; who knows where else on that hood is contaminated but just hasnt bubbled yet.......

ONF1R, how many spots did you have on your hood before they decided to replace your hood? Were they on the top or bottom of your hood? I asked if replacing the hood was the right thing to do but they wouldn't go for it.I told them my concern was what's going to pop up next year, next month etc...We'll see..........

Ya thats typical for a Ford dealer service manager....you might have to push some more and do some hard negotiating with him......
As far as my corrosion, I had about 3 spots under the very front edge of my hood grouped together which flowed from under the hood and onto the top of the front lip edge. The spot on the top of my hood was about a25 cent piecein size.I tested one of the spots that was under the lip by scratching at it and the dang thing cracked and i scratched some paint off of it. When i scrathed the paint off, i could actually see the corrosion under it;you could see the alimunumsurface but it had like a white powdery substance on it. That was more than convincing for the service dept. They swapped my hood out for a new one no problem.
I dont see why they would give you a hard time because its covered under warranty and all they will do is send it back to Ford and get reimbursed for the cost.
