Rotor Question.....
 

I ordered some new rotors and they should be here this week.......

My question is, does anything have to be done to the rotors before i install them orcan I just install them right out of the box???

Also, if anyone has a link that explains how to change the rotors out, please post it here....

Changing them is a cakewalk. As for any prep, if they are coated with a film of oil clean them good with Brakeclean. Unless they were not stored flat, or banged around during shipping, you should be ok. If they were not stored properly, they could have a warp and would need to be trued on a brake lathe.

If they are warped out of spec as indicated by a dial indicator
on the vehicle, I would return them instead of turning them
true. Never had a good turning job and buy new rotors when
worn out or scored.[:@]

would i be able to rotate them by hand and see if it is warped so i dont have to go through the trouble of installing them before finding out they are crap?

i read through taco bills how to guide on rotors and he didnt need to use a compression tool...why would i need that?

Just make sure you take the E brake off so you can do the rears. I was puzzled as to why i couldn't get the rotor to move at first when i did mine;)

Sometimes you won't have clearance when putting the caliper w/ pads back on the rotor, therefore needing to compress the caliper further in to give you clearance. I've never used a special tool.. When needed, we grab a c-clamp and compress the caliper till you have room.

You can't tell if they are warped out of the box. Have done many new ones(removed warped ones), never got a warped new one though they were high quality ones purchased at local auto parts stores; not sure about getting certain brands shipped to you direct. You definitely want USA made I can yell you that!!
