Feedback on what the dealer told me
I took my 06 GT in to the dealer because there is a faint squeaking noise when turning, coming from the steering (not the rear end). The mechanic drove the car and heard the squeak. They tested a few thinigs apparently and came to the conclusion there is nothing wrong with the car. The dealer said that Ford's statement is that it is "characteristic of the car". I suggested it could be the strut bearings but they said it was tested and they were good. Any feedback?

Thats freakin' BS man.I would hope that our cars don't have that "characteristic".If it's a squeak they should fix it.If that means replacing something or just oiling up parts.

Long time reader, first time poster here.
I recently had the exact same squeaking coming from the steering. Dealer replaced the strut bearings and steering rack. Gone now. I'd find another dealer.

I had a mild squeak coming from directly under thedash board! Took it to the dealership and said it was some type of bushing on the steering rack! Said they sprayed a little silicon on it! Have not heard the squeak anymore---- around 3 months now!

I have the same squeek, occasional right now, very faint. I'll wait a bit to see if it worsens before taking it in.
One thing - how can a strut bearing cause a steering wheel squeek?

I have no clue. I wondered the same thing myself, but since I'm female I didn't even bother asking. I usually just get some bs dumb blonde answer anyway.[sm=icon_blah.gif]
