Default gas pedal lag

Just a general question.... My gas pedal has about a half inch or so or play before actually getting any throttle response. It has been like this since i bought the car new and im wondering if its normal for our cars or if mine needs adjustment....

Any input is greatly appreciated!!!

Mine's the same way. Not quite 1/2 an inch though. I inserted a spacer on the
gas pedal arm. If you get under there with a good light you'll see where the arm hits
the housing when you push down on the pedal and let off.
I just got a little piece of rubber and taped it to the arm so it hits the housing a
little sooner. When you look at it you'll know exactly what I mean and did.

welcome to Drive by Wire!
It's possible a tune could cure that.

I think a few responders missed the point. Like you I think mfk1988 is talking about mechanical free play in the pedal mechanism itself. I checked my 07 and it has less than 1/8” movement at idle before the engine responds.
