GT middle lights

RE: GT middle lights
Just checking, actually it's also got requirements for position relative to bumper line and headlight boresight (or some techno babble LOL)
Hey, I don't care what they call 'em, I just like them [8D]

or floodlights; ...getting flashed at night all the time so they aren't pointing that low. The sit so high, and are so big and so bright. ...its no wonder oncoming cars are getting 'blown away' and let you know about it. Should have been smaller for one, As I recall they sit slightly higher than the headlights. ...and what design purpose was that? ...still love the car though

Doesn't matter what height they are mounted. It's where they shine. Haven't you noticed the pattern when they come on? It's right in front of the car. Don't worry about some people flashing you. They see 4 lights and blast away. When they do that to me, I show em that they were indeed wrong. Probably brings tears to their eyes. Their bad.

You'll find that there are rules and regs for positioning of lights. Fogs have to be a State dependent maximum of x" from the ground.
These lights ARE referred to as fogs but being that they are waaaaay too high (for most States), in the eyes of the law they are driving lights.

Would have to look it up if anybodys interested. I used
the info for my center Eleanor style lights.

I don't consider them either fog lights or driving lights. Fog lights traditionally are mounted as low as possible, usually under the bumper,to cut under the fog and not reflect back at the driver. The next time you are in fog, hit the high beams and you will see this effect. Also, true fog lights are amber color to help cut through the haze andto provide contrast, the same reason that trap shooters wear amber glasses on hazy days.
In the old days of Federally mandated sealed beam headlights, driving lights were a higher powered white light that gave greater range than high beams for use on the back roads with little oncomming traffic. In the late '60s and early '70s aircraft landing lights were popular for "driving lights" - talk about lighting up the night.
I consider the GT center lights as some designer's idea of "Kool". I would like to replace mine with anHID set with a long range focus for highway cruising, and retain the stock low/high beams for in town driving.
