Question on CAI and tune with warranty, ECU
I have an interesting question that hopefully someone can answer:
Based on searching, I know that you can reflash your ECU back to stock (after a tune) and take out a CAI if you need to take your car to the dealer for service.
However, does the ECU retain a memory of these "reflashes," so that if the dealer was inclined to do so, they could see that you had flashed/reflashed your ECU at some point in the past, and note that in their system (effectively screwing you out of a warranty)?

heres the link to an article on here https://mustangforums.com/m_1189936/tm.htm . basically what it says is that yes the ecu can tell you when the system was reflashed. however the ecu reflashes whenever the battery dies/is disconnected, and the ecu cannot remember the previous tune. So getting a tune is fine and will not void your warranty as long as you flash it back to stock.

Hmmm, interesting. I wonder if what he is saying is accurate... It makes logical sense; hopefully the GT ECU operates equivalently to the V6 ECU.
In case it isn't accurate,, I guess I'll have to decide if another 20 or so horsies with CAI and tune are worth the risk.

my guess is going to be that they work the same way. heck they might even have the same ecu in them just with different settings. Maybe someone else knows if they're the same. if not look into it yourself. find the part numbers or something

The ECU does not save flashes. They can tell if it has recently been 'reset' but anything can reset a computer, including autozone or something.
Don't buy into the rumors. Flash your stock tune and drive 200 miles before you go to the dealer.

But why even 50? Is it to allow the ECU to re-learn your driving or something? What would be wrong with just driving straight to the dealer after reflashing?

Supposedly if will wipe out the info of you changing anything in the CPU, it wont even be able to tell you "unplugged the battery".....hell just find out if the dealer even cares about a CAI/tune......most dont care and wont void the warranty on the spot anyway....it will save yourself the trouble!
