Default Help from all you audio guru's...

I want to hook up a universal HD tuner (Directed Electronics DMHD-1000)to my Shaker 500 (2007) and would appreciate some suggestions from you all.

1. I would like to mount the box (it is small, don't know the size offhand but it looks about 5" x 8" or so. Is thereroom behind the radio for this?

2. Where do you suggest I get the 12V switched from?

3. Where do you suggest I get the 12V constant from?

4. I would like to solder the connections, is there room for my big fat hands behind the dash?

5. Instead of using the FM Modulation, I can hook up the Audio Out with RCA's to the Aux Input. Do I have an Aux Input that accepts RCA's?

6. I will be drilling a hole into the dash just above the light switch(drivers side) to run the interface cable for the controller and mountingthe controllerthere. Is there anything above the switch I will poke if I don't remove the panel when I drill, carefully?

I know I can see some of this stuff once I remove the radio (No's 1, 4 and 5) but I am trying to get as much info as possibly before opening things up.

Thanks,
john...

1. There is some room but I dont know if there is that much.
2-3 Those wire are already behind the radio so you can tap into them, there is more than 1 wire for those also back there.
4. It can be soldered if you want to.
5. The 07s are different than the 05-06s and should allow for this pretty easily. I do not think that you will have a direct RCA input though.
6. Should be clear but you can take the light switch out pretty easily and feel around up there to be sure.

There is plenty of room behind the radio, I have my Ipod interface and a XM box back there behind the radio (aftermarket but the same size as the shaker). I would get the 12v switched and constant from the radio harness itself. You could solder it there w/o much problem once you have the radio out.

A little help on which wires in the harness? Which colors? A link to a wiring diagram?

Oh yeah, thanks for the responses.
