insurance sucks!

i just found the best rate i could get on ins. 587.00 @ 6 mos. sucks when you have to be sr22 compliant. just have to suck it up i guess, i'll never give up my stang! still not right when you no accidents or speed tick, 3 companies wouldn't even insure 05 GT's, pathetic.

Only $388.45 for 6 months on my '05 GT with State Farm, granted I've been with them for 22 years.

I pay $107 per month for my 05 GT as opposed to $250 permonth when I was 19.

(live in jersey) First quote from Geico for my 19 year old daughter on her 05 GT 3,720.00 for six months. No accidents only one unsafe operation of a motor vehicle ticket (burnout in Wildwood during custom car week). Put car in my name and went with another company who also insures my four other vehicles price dropped to under a grand for the year! If your under 25 you pay through the nose.

Jersey, home of terrible drivers.

i hope you make her pay for her own insurance. if it's one thing i hate, it's when parents buy their kids a nice sports car, it's the parents paying for their insurance on it too. even after they get a ticket and raise it a couple grand. not saying you bought her car though, but saw that you said you put the car under your insurance for her, which you can't do unless she's underage or a student or something. Don't Know yet what my insurance will be like. now im scared. that means that I might be paying 750 a month for the car and insurance combined. But I love the car.

VaporDude 02-04-2005 07:06 PM

RE: insurance sucks!

I pay a little over $1200 for 6 months on all the vehicles I have combined and I go through AIG. That doesn't include the insurance on my boat, camper or 66 T-Bird. Wonder how much the 05 GT is going to cost me every 6 month. I don't expect to trade-in my 02 Mustang on to the 05 GT. Planning on keeping it for my daily driver.

RE: insurance sucks!

For my 04 v6 I pay $320 a month insurance. I've never had an accident or ticket and my insurance has never had to pay for anything. I'm only 18 though but I live in the boonies so I hate to see what people pay in the cities around here.

nanaki 02-07-2005 01:16 PM

RE: insurance sucks!

yeeeeowch! 320/month on a v6? if you've never had an accident, you should call your insurance company and see what discounts they offer. i never had a ticket or accident either and got on their "steer clear" program. they just give you a book and tape and you keep a log for like 30 sessions of driving. then do a lil test that comes with it and talk to your agent. you get a few hundred/year knocked off. not to mention i got a student discount. even though i'm not a student anymore. but shhhhh.. they don't know that yet. ;)

Word. My mom paid my insurance on my first car, a POS Mazda, but only because I couldn't get my own policy. When I turned 18 and got the stang, my ass was on my own. I pay car payments and insurance, which sure as hell ain't cheap. If you're old enough to have a brand spankin new car, especially a sports car, I'd hope you're responsible enough to pay for it.

You need the SR22 because you got a DUI, or had a DUI with no insurance right? If thats the case, I wouldn't be complaining...$97/mo you're a winner DUI or not.

Drinking and driving is SO bad. [sm=icon_beat.gif] He should be paying more than that for being so irresponsible then!! Sorry, but I have NO respect for people who drive drunk. Grr.

Anyways, Sidewayz, your stang looks awesome in your sig. Very clean!!

RE: insurance sucks!

rocksthepony....I commend you.

We live just outside of Cincinnati in Butler County. My son graduated from St X and is a frosh at UC (Deans List). I'm rightfully proud of him, but he had a chargeable accident last year (rear ended someone). His insurance runs him $2,500/6 months on a hyundai Elantra which he uses to commute back and forth from UC. He's also working at Krogers to afford the gas, upkeep, insurance. I told him to get used to being a poor college student for a while until the points drop off his record in another 2 years. I can tell when he's running short of money every once in a while when he scrapes together quarters for gas. I flip him a $50 bill every 3 months or so just so he can make ends meet. But, he won't ask me for it.

I own an RX8 (thinking about a Mustang GT, though). You wouldn't believe the 16-18 year olds who get all out of sorts because their parents won't buy them a snazzy sports car like an RX8 (or Mustang). Even worse are those who just got their license and demand that if they don't get an RX8, they threaten to not do well in school, curse their parents, threaten to quit school, etc, etc, etc.

You've taken on the responsiblity for your ride. I wish you much luck.

I asked my mother what it will be like when it comes time for me to move out and insure the car, her reply? "youll never get insuarance like me, send me 100 a month and you dont gotta worry bout it." (its so ackward right? you wanna make fun of me for havin it in my moms name till you read i pay for it myself.)

As I mentioned in the 'How old are you' thread, my stepdaughter will probably inherit my '00 V6 mods and all. She won't have to 'buy' it or cover her insurance so long as her grades stay above B's not GPA but all of her grades are above a B. If she wants a new car when she turns 18 and is in college, it's on her to cover the cost of the car payment. We're still willing to cover insurance costs and she can live here rent free as long as she wants as long as she's taking a full load, working to cover her wants, and not getting sidetracked on movin' in with some guy. She likes the idea so far.
