Nope, it's theT/C locking. It locksat about 120 mph with the stock gears. This is that "wall" you're feeling.A good tuner can adjust the lockup point for you but it will eventually lock and you will hit that "wall", just at a different speed.

I had the same issue until JDM adjusted it for me, now she pulls real hard up to 135. (I do have a ProTorque customconverter on order though).

Might not be so on his '07 GT and mine. Anything over 130 and I'm scared.[8D]

I agree with drbobvs... the TQ is locking up and you've reached the maximum. I don't think it's an aerodynamics issue as much as others think.

But, if you like the high speed driving, I'd change the gears down to something lower if they make it, say 3.31 or even 2.76. You'll loose the grunt off the line, but you'll roll all day long at 150+. You've got to give something to get something!

Oh, and which freeways are you driving? Just so I can stay out of the way, you understand!

till after my Stang went into the final gear at 120 and was at 4000 rpm
'Hear me now, believe me later', that "final gear" is no gear at all, it's the lockup.

I just notice on your signature line that you were running an auto. My 142 MPH speed calculation was for a manual with 3:55 gears.

Yes, I too would be interested so I can stay off those roads where the OP is going 120.

Thats strange... granted my car is a 5 speed but i'm stock and pull hard all the way to 140 till i have to shift in to 5th.

And i did that in the Texas Mile..

Although the autos lockup the torque converter there is HP loss to run the hydraulic pump, etc. 4th gear in the manual is 1:1 so there is no HP loss other than bearing friction on the main shaft. It is possible that you will go slower with the auto because of the HP loss.
