Stang begging for rubber and rims.

RE: Stang begging for rubber and rims.
Here's the math.
[Tire Height in inches] = [Rim Height in inches] + [Tire Width in millimeters] x [Aspect Ratio] x.01 x 2 / 25.4
Therefore, we have
285/40/18 tire height = 26.976"
255/45/18 tire height = 27.035"
The difference is .059"...negligible. If your rear tires looked shorter, it is an illusion caused by the wheel gap in the rear being greater than the wheel gap in the front.
Sorry, I was thinking you said you had 295/40/18, which would be a nice size. The only ones in this size I found were Falkens (with ugly tread pattern) on Discount Tire Dot Com...for $281...too pricey.
So they do have 295/45/18 in the Nittos! ....and for the same price as the 285/40/18.....$214....still expensive, but manageable.
295/45/18 tire height = 28.453"....which is 1.276" taller than my stock Pirellis, resulting in an increase of .638" in rake and .638" more rubber in the wheel well. Interesting! Hmmm....Pantera, I'm also wondering what your car would look like lowered in the rear.
Oh yeah, another concern is tire rotation. Do you just get the tires remounted on the opposite rim? If it were a bidirectional tire, you could just swap sides without having to take the tires off.
Thanks for all the info!

RE: Stang begging for rubber and rims.
I had the rear tires off and next to the fronts. mine were shorter. I even measured them several time. It may be because of the brand or the rim. But I can tell you mine were shorter...........
