that speaker wattage wont do that, they will just blow if you push to much....the stock are rated pretty low, you dont get 500 watts with the shaker system.

sounds like the jenson headunit and stock speakers arent compatable. If the stock speakers are low ohms 1-2it is over powering your jenson amp. Try and find out what ohms the speakersare and what the jenson spec are for the amp. Sorry I dont know the ohms of the speakers

if that were the case about the jensen and the speaker ohms not being compatible, if i were to run an amp to the speakers would that fix it or would it still be the same?

Stock and aftermarket rarely match up properly at high volumes.
That 40Wx4 is the max at 2-3% distortion. Whats the wattage at
.01% distortion? Jensen overrates the W output of their head units.
Replace the speakers with some infinitys with a higher sensitivity
level. Distortion or clipping kills more speakers faster than overpowering
them with good CLEAN undistorted power.

If you added an external amp to the speakers, it should solve your problem, but I believe your biggest issue is:

JENSON

They are known for making crap products. It is probably overheating & going into a fail-safe mode. Once you cut if off & then back on it resets. My 2cents: look into an Alpine or Pioneer unit.

I would agree that might be a problem but replacing the speakers is a good option and will sound otns better anyway.

Did you bypass the door sub amps? That would be a big no-no with an aftermarket HU. They are less than 2ohms.

The door amps are for the subs only

First off you would still need to find out what ohms the stock speaker are. An after market amp would help since most can handle a 2 ohm load. buying speakers could solve the problem if it is the amp overheating and going into protection mode.
