RE: stock speaker wattage
sounds like the jenson headunit and stock speakers arent compatable. If the stock speakers are low ohms 1-2it is over powering your jenson amp. Try and find out what ohms the speakersare and what the jenson spec are for the amp. Sorry I dont know the ohms of the speakers

RE: stock speaker wattage
if that were the case about the jensen and the speaker ohms not being compatible, if i were to run an amp to the speakers would that fix it or would it still be the same?

RE: stock speaker wattage
Stock and aftermarket rarely match up properly at high volumes.
That 40Wx4 is the max at 2-3% distortion. Whats the wattage at
.01% distortion? Jensen overrates the W output of their head units.
Replace the speakers with some infinitys with a higher sensitivity
level. Distortion or clipping kills more speakers faster than overpowering
them with good CLEAN undistorted power.

RE: stock speaker wattage
If you added an external amp to the speakers, it should solve your problem, but I believe your biggest issue is:
JENSON
They are known for making crap products. It is probably overheating & going into a fail-safe mode. Once you cut if off & then back on it resets. My 2cents: look into an Alpine or Pioneer unit.

RE: stock speaker wattage
First off you would still need to find out what ohms the stock speaker are. An after market amp would help since most can handle a 2 ohm load. buying speakers could solve the problem if it is the amp overheating and going into protection mode.
