Cleaning the C&L filter

Anyone have any suggestions on cleaning the C&L CAI air filter? I've only used K&N in the past on different vehicles and everytime I would go to clean it, everyone said leave it alone, it works better when it's dirty. Well, the filter on my C&L used to be red but you can barely tell that anymore and I need to give it a clean and a re-oil. What do you guys use?

To clean filter -

1. Buy a new filter.
2. Remove old filter.
3. Install new filter.
4. Find a dumpster and place oldfitler inside.
5. Dont worry about over-oiling the filter and
all the problems associated with an over-oiled
filter.

what i would do is buy another filter. Then take the old one out and clean it but install the new one. So you wouldnt have to worry about over oiling it and tripping your MAF sensor. Plus you dont have to wait to let your old one dry and you can drive your mustang right away! :D

+1....easiest and best way to make sure its done right....its like 50 for a new filter and I can afford the 10 cents day it costs me to replace it aafter 20-30k miles.

That's a great point, Matt. Buying a new one and cleaning the old one and swapping them out every few thousand miles. Awesome suggestion.

Now I just need to go find what the part number is of the damned filter (it's been a year since I installed it, not a clue where the paperwork is) and try to find one in a store or on the net.
