Question for those with new head unit
I know the advantages of replacing te head unit, but if I did so, I thing I would really miss is the in-dash 6 cd. How do you guys that have changed HUs, compensate for the loss of the 6CD? Do they make aftermarket in-dash 6cd units?

RE: Question for those with new head unit
My Pioneer Z1 has a 10 gig hardrive... I can burn like 1,000 cd's directly onto it just by simply popping in a cd... so Nope... I don't miss the 6cd changer

I agree, but only if you can control the ipod via the HU. Also in addition to the cost of the HU, you have to incur the expense of the IPOD if you dont already have one. Furthermore, it is something extra to be stolen with the idiots out there.

RE: Question for those with new head unit
There are actually quite a few head units with 6 disc changers in them. Personally I would go for one with a hard drive in it (because what's cooler than having all your music loaded right into your stereo all the time), but you can definitely get a multi-disc aftermarket head unit (I believe Pioneer makes a multi-disc touch screen, as well as a few others.) If nothing else, they basically all have the input jack for your mp3 player, so that's cool too.

RE: Question for those with new head unit
Also, all the newer head units play MP3 discs and some play mp3 DVD discs. You can record quite a few cd's (definitely more than 6) onto one disc and play that. If you want this option, just make sure you research the head unit you get and ensure it has a clean interface for navigating the mp3 disc.
Also, I now have DVD/Satellite/iPod/Bluetooth/back-up camera No time to change CD's!!!

RE: Question for those with new head unit
Miss the 6 disc CD changer? What, are you crazy? I just have my iPod plugged in all the time and therefore have all of my CDs on there. Just make sure it is one where it can be plugged in directly to it, but most of them are. Mine works great and is a Kenwood and I have the Navigation as well in case you are still decided on which kind to get. Also I would get an alarm system with the head unit too, depending on where you live. Good luck!
