Are my gears whining??????????
Just got frpp 4.10's in about a week ago. I have a manual. In fourth gear at about 3000 rpm's, if i take my foot off the throttle, I hear what sounds like the gears whining. The same thing happens when Im in 5th gear under 2000 rpm's. It doesnt happen in any other gears. Do I have to bring thie ******* thing in again?

Tell your gears to quit whining or you'll knock their teeth out...
OK, just a moment of levity... Sorry, but I can't answer your question so I'll simply [sm=shutup.gif].

jfabz, welcome to the hell that is my life, lol!your gears are not setup proper if they whine at all, especially FRPP (A). my first mechanic didnt use a hydraulic press (rather he bashed the hell out of everything with a hammer), a depth mic, or marking compound. my rear not only whined, but the driveshaft shook from how loose it was. three weeks, a massive headache/battle w/ the first shop, a butt load of money, new gearsand one shop later its closed to being perfect. hopefully you wont have to go through what i did.

I am going to say it again and again. My gears whine a little when stock. Now they still whine with 4:10s'. Not bad and I am not concerned either. They worked on mine for 2 days to make it right. The car is now a savage beast and I'm not going to count the hairs on my *** worrying about this $hit either. Good Luck on whatever you do.

My FRPP A's whine a bit under light application of the throttle, from about 40-70mph. Oh well...I guess you only have 200 miles to make em right, so if you're gonna complain, do it NOW...

Very common problem. Mine did exactly the same. $700 bucks later, they are much quieter, but still have a little bit of off-throttle whine in 5th gear.

thanks guys, i feel alot better. I actally went down to mustang specialties the other day and one of the owners (John Rollins) who is a great guy took me for a ride in a 98 I think it was. Talk about gear whine. It was horrible. After hearing that i was thankful!
