my car is bone stock with original mufflers and no mods what sover and makes this "mystery" rattle noise as well. It's annoying

Glad I read this, with spring here and the windows down I just started to notice this noise as well. I thought it had something to do w/ my spring and d-spec install since it was the last mod I did even though I couldn't see how the two would be connected.

Also with mine it doesnt seem to go away once the car is warm. Maybe i just have a small exhaust leak? Before installing the X i had a rattle noise that sounded like it was coming from under the shifter area. After installing the catted X that rattle is gone but the new one started. To me it sounds as if its coming from right in front/under the driver

Mine sounded like it was coming from the shifter area too ... but I heard it more reverberating off the walls of things than in the car actually.

My dealer did the TSB for the plate and the A-arm but it still rattled. They think it's the parking brake assembly now and are ordering a new one from Ford. If it is the parking brake, that'll be a new one for this thread but perhaps will help some of the people that didn't get it fixed with the tsb.

Well they replaced the whole parking brake assembly and say they don't hear the rattle anymore. I haven't gotten a chance to stomp on it when it's cold so I haven't confirmed but the dealer was pretty good about trying things and still hearing it. If they say they didn't hear it I'm inclined to believe them.

Just a thought for anyone having the annoying rattle they can't get rid of.

I still have this stupid rattle. When I took it in last year, they did the A-arm TSB and said they would need that print out in this thread from the OP before they looked into the spacer plate. Well, a couple of months ago I found there was actually a TSB for the plate, so I don't know if it didn't exist then/they didn't know about/ etc. So now I have to call them and tell them I think I have this TSB problem.

Aziraphale, mind PM'ing me your dealer's info? I'm not in Northern VA, but if they give me any crap or anything, I want to be able to give them someone to talk to who's delt with the problem.

PM sent.

I suggest dropping the car off the day before so it's cold in the morning and they can hear the rattle.
