Default Lowered Suspension and Jacking

When I jack up my Mustang w/ stock suspension, my lift barely fits under the rocker panel. What do those of you with lower suspensions do? I'd really like to get something with a slight drop (about 1" or so), but worry about not being able to jack up the car. As it is, I have to remove the jack "pad" and just jack on the platform that the pad normally goes in. Is it just that my Craftsman 3-ton jack is too big? What do you guys have?

As an aside, where do you then put the jackstands when you jack it up? I've got the MGW shifter on it's way, and am getting ready to install it.

These are the thoughts that run through my mind on the drive to and from work...what new toys I want to buy for the Mustang...

Thanks for the help.

I use two spots-center of the K member (fornt)and the rear differential. As for being too low, it could bea combination of the height of the vehicle and the height of the jack. I got lower profile tires and lowered the suspension all at the same time. I use a 2x4 for the front tires and it works fine. I just drive right up on the 2x4 and it and have room to put the jack underneath and lift it up. i don't need anything for the back. There are jacks that are lower than others. You would have to compare at the store to know which one is the lowest.

I don't raise just the driver side or the passenger side. If I need to do that, I'm going to put it up on stands for safety reasons.

what i did on my bros firebird was we made ramps to drive up on, just pieces of wood cut with an angle to give the car enough lift to get the jack under

2X8s or race jack, both have worked for me.
