No mine hasn't done that. Your the first person I have heard of to have that problem. Did the dealer tell you why it did that?

RE: 05 GT owner's

You have got to be kidding me. My friend bought one after driving mine several times and he loves it. The other day he took it to Flordia and told me one time he got it to 130 Mph for a period of time at about 3000 rpm and the engine was just singing and had plenty left. I have been really easy on mine lately because I am tired of pumping gas twice a week for it. To be honest with you I don't even believe you own a 2005 GT.[:@]

RE: 05 GT owner's

There has been some links here in the MF to service bulletins that say they had some bad head castings make it into production. But, it sounded like none of those cars were sold to the public. Lets hope not !!

I have only had my 05 up to 100 mph. She only has 200 miles on her so far, so I am trying to take it easy. I was surprised just how easy I slipped up there in 5th (5spd) on the interstate.

Hope your luck is better, now that you have a new engine !!

RE: 05 GT owner's

How many miles were on it, when it went? Please explain what, where & when it happened? It might help other's out, if we knew what if anything you heard just before it went?
Thanks,
Dave...

no matter what car we are talking about ... you're always going to get a few people unlucky owners that have crap like that happen to them... engine blows, tranny drops... gotta take it all in the stride

RE: 05 GT owner's

Why wouldn't you take it in for diagnosis ?? Warranty means no charge, and peice of mind ?? I might not be happy about having to go in, but if you have an error code, why not know, beofre you have a bigger problem.

Engines blowing, check engine lights, autobahn racing before 500miles on the car.....
Theres a breakin period to slowly wear in the parts so they all settle into place among the first few expansions and contractions of the block.
You have a much higher chance of having problems if you do not let the engine run for a 30 min period and let it rest for 4 hours atleast 10 times.. This is normaly done with just driving to and from work over a few weeks.. Take it easy for the first 5 hours of drive time..
Miles mean nothing to the engine.. Its all about hours.

Mine did the same thing. I took it in and they jumped right on it, all the mechs wanted to look at it. It coded out as a sparkplug coil miss fired they flashed the computer and on I went about 15 minutes. It is a service tech item.

I ordered mine in Aug before they could be ordered and the dealership dropped the order as soon as they were allowed, order number 1012, received in Nov.
Fire Red with interior upgrade Red Leather 5 speed, bullit wheels. Only 2 options left off, the Automatic and the premium wheels. I did order the Mustand spinners for the wheels and it great.

It makes this 50 something a kid again.

Where are the spinners in that pic? Isnt that the 3 spoke center cap for the stock classic rims?

beckhoff 02-26-2005 01:20 PM

RE: 05 GT owner's

Sorry It is Torch Red my mistake, fire red is an old ford color I remember.

beckhoff 02-26-2005 01:22 PM

RE: 05 GT owner's

That pic is right after I got it. The spinners weren't available until Jan 05 and the weather hasn't been condisive to gettting it out of the garage. I need a couple of new ones.

RE: 05 GT owner's

The other darker 05 red, is redfire metalic. I am going to do the pony centers on mine, to replace the factory blue ovals.

Enjoy your car.

I dunno, I'm driving not watching :)

They will spin on the wheel though if you spin em manually.

Spinners? Humm... those are too Ghetto.. not for me. thats one step above daytons!! ahah [sm=laughat.gif]

Earl 02-26-2005 05:33 PM

RE: 05 GT owner's

Not Ghetto, retro. They are on the 60's era 'stangs which our cars are patterned after.

Yep, they could be easily taken if someone had a mind. Hasn't happened yet.

Earl and Beckoff,
You both have beautiful cars...;)
I'm trying to find one like I want for my 50th b'day....not much luck, gonna end up ordering one.....talked to a Ford dealership today and they said there's 70,000(!) on backorder for the '05 GT's!! I don't know if he's pulling my leg or not! They're so high in demand!
I'm in GA!:D

RE: 05 GT owner's

Actually these spinners are '68-'69 Retro. Nit he finger cutting swing blade look of the new era.

RE: 05 GT owner's

I thought spinners were like Spreewells, not pinwheels. Dont spinner rims cost a pretty penny?
Go through the "Ghetto" and you might actually see real spinners. BUt yea those are pretty "retro"
(god i hate ford for this retro crap, im not saying i dont like the new gt but if they hadnt done the thunderbird (joke by the way) first this wouldnt seem like such a marketing scam in ways. even the 150,000 dollar car is.....retro)

Earl 02-26-2005 07:54 PM

RE: 05 GT owner's

Get used to it :)

There are alot of 40+ year old drivers that like to think back on the cars of our youth but don't want the hassle of maintenance on a vehicle with over 500,000 miles on it. The past is the wave of the future - whether it be Viper, Panther, Prowler, 'Stang, T-Bird, VW Beetle, Mini, or GT40 - what was once old is new again.

Look for more of it with future 'vettes, camaro's and firebirds.

GM was slow to come to the party but they can't deny the numbers - besides the GTO from a cosmetic and aesthetic standpoint, isn't even worthy of the name. Looks like a (take your pick) 80s, 90s, or 00's Grand Prix on automotive growth hormone.

:)

Earl
