Default Gas Gauge Issue? Need Opinions and Fix-Its PLEASE

Hey guys!

So I think I've seen something like this posted in the past. I'm not sure if I'm having the same related issue but here it goes.

Yesterday (Tuesday)night, I got home from work with only 1/8 of a tank low from being full. I filled her up on Monday night. When I started her up this morning to go to work, the gas gauge only went up to a 1/4 tank! I always let her warm up and I'm not parked on a hill...the gauge didn't move. When I started driving to work, the gauge gradually started dropping. Ionly have a 20 mile commute to work which barely makes a dent in my gas, nowhere near a 1/4 tank. There are no signs of leaking and I checked my gas cap and it's snug tight. I was hoping you guys could tell me what exactly might be wrong (thinking the gas level sensor) and how to fix it...can I take it to Ford and will my warranty cover it?

Thank you so much!!!

Yes it is a warranty issue. I had the stumble after cruise TSB taken care of on my wife's 06. the replacement pump/level sender, acted just like you describe after they installed it. The next assembly has worked just fine. This is a known defect, do not let them BS you on this.

Replaced my fp under warranty too for the same situation. Should take care of it.

one of my friends had a somewhat similar probelm. he was driving and all of a sudden his gas guage went all the way to empty. it was just a sensor that went out.

I remember a while back someone reported similar problems and it was caused by his custom over-axle pipe that was not positioned right and started to melt some of lines/cables in that area. Hopefully that's not the case for you.

Thanks for the input, but I don't have that setup so it's gotta be the level sensor. I'm taking her in next week.

On my car I had a FLI message posted when the gas quantity fell to zero. The dealer replaced transmitter under warranty.

Don't know if the 6cyl is the same, but these cars have the craziest tank, level sensor, pump setup I've ever seen. There are actually 2 level sensors, one on each side.
